The St. James Choir

aLINE LOUISE RALPH CHOUR

Consisting of approximately 16 members, the Choir provides musical leadership at the 10:30 service from mid-September through Pentecost each year. The Choir offers a wide variety of musical styles, from ancient to modern, from psalm settings and descants to offertory and communion anthems.

The St. James Organ

The Rodgers Trillium 957, installed in 2004, uses hybrid pipe/digital technology for a richer sound than pipes or digital alone. The organ has 112 speaking stops distributed among 5 divisions. It is also equipped with an MX 200 Sound Module, which provides over 1000 additional and orchestral sounds.

MEN'SMEN'S2

Consisting of every man in church the day we sing, the St. James Men's Ensemble is a popular group that provides an offertory anthem several times each year. The selections are always familiar hymns that require little advance rehearsal. As one member puts it, "all the glory and none of the work."

Children's Musical Involvement

CHILD JAMES ZEIG

The children of St. James sing during the service several times each year. Children with musical talent often sing the offertory or play the prelude throughout the year. They also regularly "read" the gospel and "preach" the sermon in dramatic form for the Family Service on Christmas Eve.

During the summer, while the St. James choir is "on leave", Organist and Choir Director Louise White often invites special guests to sing at our 10:30 Sunday Service. We have been honored to host folk singers Mariam Matossian and Kate Campbell, gospel group PURPOSE, and local musicians violinist Janet Bloom, singers Mark and Elise Fuller, and singer Donna Marie Todd. Every Christmas we are thrilled to have professional harpist Michael Wills at our Christmas Eve service.
