| SEFTON ABBOTT'S 98TH BIRTHDAY AND PEACE POLE DEDICATION |

We honored Sefton Abbott, a leader in this parish and in the Episcopal Diocese of Western North Carolina for 41 years. Sefton and his late wife Jean spent much of their lives advocating for peace and social justice, causes which involved them in countless demonstrations. As part of their efforts, they also presided over many plantings of Peace Poles in Western North Carolina. In order to honor their inspiring witness and Christian service, we erected a Peace Pole near the entrance of St. James and a special dedication ceremony was held. We also celebrated Sefton’s 98th birthday! Que la Paz Prevalezca en la Tierra __
